The Willard award is named after the extra-extraordinary Rotarian and human being Willard Bill Springer. We lost Bill almost a year ago, but not his spirit as his spirit lives on in all who knew him, especially his daughter Melissa 'Springer' Mecca, who carries on his Rotary Service Above Self as a member of Manitowoc Noon Rotary-Service Above Self. The first recipient of The Willard award is Paul Marquardt who has served the Manitowoc Community for decades and decades. First as our Postmaster. Paul joined Rotary while working, he has continued his commitment to Rotary throughout his retirement. You see Paul weekly at meetings, volunteering at all Rotary events, ringing bells for Salvation Army, counting money at the fair and telling the best stories! Congratulations Paul. Pictured are Paul Marquardt and Melissa 'Springer' Mecca. __________________________________________________________________________________________ Congratulations to Lakeshore Technical College student Erin Rank (left) for earning a $1,500 scholarship from the Manitowoc Noon Rotary-Service Above Self! Thank you Dr Joe Di Raimondo and Lori Kirby our Scholarship Committee. Erin is in her second year of our Accounting Program and is a student worker in our Admissions Division. Erin is the only student in the Lakeshore Community to earn this scholarship! |

MEETINGS CANCELLED UNTIL who knows whenGreetings to my fellow Rotarians, I hope this finds you and your family well and in good health. As you listen to the radio or watch the news I am sure you are seeing many cancelation and closings around our community so what I have to announce will probably not come as a surprise. In an effort to protect each other and out of a concern about the spread of the COVID-19 virus, our Noon Rotary Board has come to the decision to Cancel all Rotary meetings though April. This is part of a community and national effort to minimize the spread of the disease. I also want to thank Chris Kornely for speaking with the Holiday Inn on this matter. As an FYI, the Morning Rotary is also canceling meetings as well as their Pasta Dinner Fund Raiser and the TR Club is discussing this later this week. We will continue to monitor local and national news sources in regards to these health concerns as we navigate thought these troubling times. Additional up to date and accurate information about the virus is available on the CDC web page and I advise you all to monitor this source of info as well. I want to thank you all for your help on this and wish you all the best of health! Please take care of yourselves and your families! I have included Mark Maloney's email about Rotary on a international scale to you in this email also. Stay in touch and in good health!! Tony Dick

April 7 Meeting Summary
Members Amy Fricke, Terry Stevenson and Justin Nickels enlightened us during their Take 5's. We learned Justin has wanted to be President since seeing the moving Independence Day. Won't it be fun to say we know the President of The United States someday in the future? Terry shared his love of communication. Amy told us her favorite color is pink, as we did not know, and affirmed her commitment to our community. Take 5's are an opportunity to get to know what really makes your fellow Rotarian who they are. Don't miss the next set of Take 5's May 5. Sharing their lives with us will be Kathy Schmill, Val Mellon, and Steve Smith.
